Summary: What kind of leadership can address the great challenges of our day? Lawrence Ellis is a Rhodes scholar who specializes in the study of peace movements and who facilitates large-scale change through consulting, grassroots organizing, and practices for individual transformation. During this radio show with host Stephen Dinan, Lawrence draws upon indigenous wisdom traditions, complexity science, Buddhist practice, and his experience as a change consultant to discuss the perils of our time and a positive path forward. His view of leadership is one that is appropriate to the situation and the time. As our time is one in which great peril is facing the planet, an embodied leader must face the challenges head on and draw wisdom from the collective about resolving problems. The path forward builds from awareness, deepens with a connection to the natural world, and involves creating communities of practice to support the larger changes we are advancing. Lawrence currently works as the executive director of the Summer of Peace, an innovative regional peacebuilding initiative in the Bay Area, which he discusses during the show as a powerful way to shift beyond a culture of violence
